My name is Jesse and I'm proud to offer you a selection of Colombian coffees from my friends at Flor a Fruto, and Hacienda la Esperanza. These are ethically produced specialty coffees, roasted to order and delivered straight to your door, with a focus on high quality single estate washed coffees, exciting processing methods and interesting varietals. I'm passionate about taking you on a journey amoung the trees of the "Alto de la Paz", or "Mountain of Peace", through the medium of these beautiful coffees.
ABOUT JESSE MATTHEWS
Starting out in the hospitality industry back in 2003, Jesse began his journey in the world of caffeine as a barista in training. Progressing into roasting in 2009, a passion for the origin of coffee began to form. After an award winning career in commercial production, Jesse moved into a role focusing on importing green beans and developing relationships at the farm level. A course in Coffee Processing at a local farm sparked another passion for processing methods, and the resulting increase in the quality and flavour of roasted beans.

This extraordinary coffee journey began in the early 1960s when Gustavo Hoyos and his family acquired a piece of land nestled on the serene slopes of "Alto de la Paz" or the "Mountain of Peace." Today, their farm, known as "Hacienda la Esperanza," stands as a testament to three generations of dedication and passion for producing the finest coffee.

Spanning over 80 hectares, "Hacienda la Esperanza" boasts gently rolling terrain that resembles a picturesque coffee field, complete with lush greenery and vibrant coffee cherries. The farm is nourished by the pristine "Campo Alegre" river, whose crystal-clear waters flow gracefully over a bed of smooth stones. Here, native "Guadua" trees sway in the wind, providing shelter and a nesting haven for local birds, creating a harmonious symphony with the rustling leaves.

At the heart of "Alto de la Paz" is a dedicated team of coffee artisans who work in a nurturing and supportive environment. They enjoy comfortable lodging and recreation areas, ensuring their well-being and that of their families. The farm places a strong emphasis on a fair work-life balance, and many of their team members have been part of the "Hacienda la Esperanza" family since childhood.
